When Mundane Meets Monday

Part of me wasn't sure whether or not to even post today. Because, well, today wasn't all that special. No relationships, jobs, or lives were endangered based on my performance. And I try to not be a person who speaks merely for the noise

But we are to be ready in and out of season. (II Timothy 4:2

It was a good day, with enough shades and shines to be its own delicate work of art. But that doesn't mean it felt anything particularly particular. Just a day.

But we are to pray and not lose heart. (Luke 18:1

How does this work when the mundanity threatens our praise? How do we obey in giving thanks in everything when the glossy sheen of apathy leaves its sticky film bland sepia

It doesn't always feel like apathy. Ignorance or lack of awareness don't feel like anything.

"But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light. For this reason it says, 'Awake, sleeper, And arise from the dead, And Christ will shine on you.' Therefore, be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is." Ephesians 5:13-17

One of the biggest themes and thought threads God weaved throughout 2014 for me is the concept of death. Which may or may not be ironic, because I also learned a lot about resting (per the blog on Sabbath). As I ended that post, rest opens to places of worship

It is terribly easy to be ungrateful for the lessons and teachings God brings me through - to ignore them, to neglect testifying of His goodness and truth.

So here it comes: death week, just like the dawn. Ready or not.
